Why is there a webfinger endpoint? I don't want skeletal twinks fingering my web!?
And also an RSA key pair? Publicly being this embarrassing should be proof enough, nobody would dare pretend to be *this*!

@mooooooo yeah it is just a bunch of protocols stacked together, webfinger does a lot of heavy lifting in terms of user discovery, imo mastodon should support *more* protocols like websub but idk shit https://www.w3.org/TR/social-web-protocols/#contents -

congrats, this is an accurate summary.
We will never be able to create awesome, different, diverse, own things if we do not ignore mastodon for the "alpha".
It does not necessary mean that it will not work somehow in the end.Apart from that the Client-To-Server protocol, Collections and the multilanguage properties …
We are building menschys to make a fully compliant Server and a "reference client", then taxiteam and redaktor as diverse clients … Following you now.
