@SpaceLifeFormIt's the Signal Protocol via libsignal, not handmade. Your message reaches the server the moment you send it, so logout never loses it and delivery doesn't depend on your session. The server only holds public keys and ciphertext, held 30 days for pickup. Each message is bound to the sender's identity key, so the recipient can confirm who sent it, verified by a safety number. Logout only wipes local keys, affecting old history on a new device. Key backup is planned.

@steve Perhaps it is proper #ActivityPub Groups support. Lemmy already calls that "Community". And perhaps the retracted FEP-2100: Unbound Group and Organization to have Groups be independent of instances / multi-instance spanning, can be implemented in mainstream fedi to have a real fedi native concept of Groups (i.e. the abstract concept, not depending on an implementation detail)..https://fediverse.codeberg.page/fep/fep/2100

Grazie per la condivisioneRitengo che, al di là dell'implementazione tecnica specifica toccata anche dall'articolo, l'aspetto davvero rivoluzionario stia nel come si possa spiegare a chiunque quanto il web possa tornare (tornare!!) protocollo-centrico, dalla deriva odierna dove, invece, è sostanzialmente inteso come servizio-centrico, con tutte le gravi conseguenze che stiamo pagando e che per fortuna stanno diventando oggetto di forte dibattito e protesta da ormai diverso tempo a questa parte.Grazie!Cercherò di trarne almeno due o tre lezioni per i miei studenti e (sarebbe importantissimo) anche per i miei colleghi!

@evan@cosocial.ca cool is an understatement! These researchers are using AP and UPOD (which I assume is some variant of ActivityPods or SOLID) to connect smart home devices together? Very cool. Would love to see some of these devices in action. My home is decidedly NOT all that smart because of the amount of cloud connections. I do have some smart devices (irrigation, thermostat), but trying to keep things minimal.
