We shipped a pretty cool feature to FediDB that allows anyone to edit and answer questions about software projects, like a wiki, and use that data to power a new software comparison feature.

@dansup@lemmy.world thank for the overview table 🙂

Why does it seem like any time the answer favours Lemmy, Piefed is marked as unknown?

I don't see that way. It was a table made with users feedback.

Even on reddit, there are two general buckets of forum style user: those who make it an identity, and those who rotate accounts and remain anonymous.(1) Piefed tends to favor the former and Lemmy the latter based on the feature matrix presented. I use Mastodon for the former. I still read reddit for my game and the news coverage is better (I have a multireddit of all the news subreddits, something Lemmy can't do yet).(2)

    (1) these tend to trend with the type of content as I consume both; the former seems to be much more engaged in posting real world news, blog articles and the like, whereas the latter tend to enjoy the comics, memes, jokes and other lighthearted content. Hence mastodon is the serious place and lemmy is the fun comic place in my life. Piefed would be the serious version of Lemmy I guess? shrug

    (2) aside, I don't like the Piefed webUI so beyond testing accounts with it, do not spend a lot of time using it. I like the Lemmy webUI much, much better and it's what I use a lot of the time. I've heard it can do something like mulitreddits but, well...

Multireddit are Piefed feeds. If you like the old.reddit UI, https://old.piefed.zip is almost a perfect clone.

Shouldn't "Trending content" for lemmy be also marked as partial like mbin?

    Thank nice analysis 🙂

I don't know. On french that would be the opposite. Mastodon is more chill than the threadiverse. We have lot meme but that depend on your subcriptions and the french fediverse mostly use mastodon.

I don't see piefed as a serious version of lemmy. i can subcribe to meme community and block every post on politic by keywords or community. On mastodon, i don't know what will they post because they don't have group, community.

For me the huge difference, until lemmy v1, is that piefed merge comment from post that share the same link, and merge every related community under a feed. For example this one : https://piefed.social/f/fediverse

And there are some front-end as Blorp, voyager (?). Pylova is also worth mentioning, they focus on UI and improve piefed features. It pain me to see them apart...

Probably, maybe we should discuss with Dansup 🙂
