    @kathhayhoe @whysharksmatter
    I am happy for you that you found a good replacement for what was Twitter.

    But for me the Bluesky ownership is a red flag: VCs want to make money, lots of money. At some point in time they will ask for returns and they will sacrifice everything that seems nice about this platform now.

    We got a *tiny* glimpse of that already, when they authenticated a bunch of accounts of the current US regime (eg White House, DHS).

    Bluesky is no safe space!

    @integerpoet Much more than "a sense". (I bookmarked this)

    @kathhayhoe So glad to follow you on the Fediverse. While it’s unfortunate BS is not federated, every post you make on Mastodon is appreciated by me. 🙏🏻

    @kathhayhoe @whysharksmatter Bluesky is just Twitter 2.0. It WILL turn out the same way. Federated is the only way forward.

    @kathhayhoe @whysharksmatter I’m glad scientists are finding a replacement for Twitter!

    @RolfBly @kathhayhoe Ah. That sounds like a toxic stew of lefty infighting and asperger syndrome. It tracks.

    @integerpoet The asperger bit could be jumping to conclusions. The infighting bit sure isn't.

    @RolfBly @kathhayhoe I feel like this is an opportunity to use an LLM to ironically satirize myself, but that would be so recursive that the universe might implode.

    @TheOneSwit @kathhayhoe @whysharksmatter Exactly, Mastodon is neutral and transparent.

    Bluesky is basically a Twitter clone with no real federation. ActivityPub is best.

    I hope you have continued success and enjoyment with . I think it's likely to go the same route as and I don't use it.

    I'm especially convinced of this since profiles for , , , etc. have been approved/authorized by Bluesky admins.

    @f @kathhayhoe @whysharksmatter

    Mastodon has no algorithm that randomly show you something. Bluesky can decide what and how much you see and what you could send. They can control it, they can control you and they can see and search whatever you do. And they can sell your data for adds and political propaganda.
    Also they get rich from your support.

    @kathhayhoe @whysharksmatter Give it some time; the algorithm will come to Bluesky (if it hasn't already done so) and turn it into the same crap you saw on Twitter.

    I'm happy right where I am, here on Mastodon.

    @mlanger @kathhayhoe

    There is indeed an algorithm on Bluesky. The default feed that users get when they sign up is an algorithmic feed.

    @mastodonmigration @kathhayhoe Everything's great as long as the algorithm gives you what you want. But when it doesn't, then you're seeing crap that a machine decided to show you.

    I'm constantly dealing with that on YouTube. Watch one video about making a flourless oatmeal cake and the next thing you know it it's showing you a thousand crappy recipes.🙄
