Someone is coming to buy 3 of my goats this afternoon!
The woman who bought my goats today just sent me a text letting me know that they are settling into their new space and happily eating grass. This was a good goat sale!

Full herd before selling several today. I have to say that I do have a really nice looking herd of goats!

She bought 2 of the doelings too. 5 goats sold at once! Excellent. Best part: she said she'd send me picture when they settle in!
I hope to sell at least 4 more of the doelings from this year. That would leave 11 does to breed for next year. (I bred 10 last year, and 9 the year before... goat math)

Someone is coming to buy 3 of my goats this afternoon! It's always such a bittersweet feeling. I'm very happy these are going to be milked and enjoyed as family dairy goats, and I'm looking forward to only milking 5 or 6 goats in the morning (instead of the 8 or 9 I've been doing most of the summer). Even though I've known I will be selling these ones for quite a while, it's always a little hard to say goodbye to them!

About to turn off the house water for the ever-more-complicated-new-dishwasher-and-plumbing-shutoff-valves-and-new-sink-and-new-faucet project.
Cats are installed on top of working dishwasher. There's clearly a lot to do to make it look nice, I'd guess at least 75% of it will never get done. But it's all functional, and there are happy cats who want to snuggle on the warm spot on top of the dishwasher even though it's humid and 30 C out. So, I declare this project "finished enough!"

Second load of dishes is running in the dishwasher now, washer and dryer have been moved in and stacked and my partner is finishing up the very last bit of setup for the dryer vent!! (We probably won't use the dryer much until winter, but nice to have!)
Will run a test wash soon and then I desperately need to make raspberry jelly before the raspberries completely fill up my freezer! Wooo!!!

Ok it's loaded but hasn't run yet because *complications* but I think it'll be ok. At least the table and the kitchen sink aren't full of dishes anymore, since they're now all in the dishwasher!

Today *might* be the final push, at least to get the room to functional-but-not-pretty (which is great). Picking up new washer and dryer to replace the sort-of-broken-but-kind-of-still-works ones we've had since we moved in, and finishing some last construction stuff.
But the best part, now that the sun is shining (sort of, through the smoke), I can LOAD AND RUN THE DISHWASHER!! (I fucking hate washing dishes, and that's how this all started)

There is now a working sink AND A WORKING DISHWASHER!!! EVERYONE REJOICE! (Though I have to figure out how to use this ridiculously fancy thing and run it empty once, I think?)
I never thought I could be so excited about an appliance. I've gotten so boring.
(...that is not an invitation to the universe to drop space junk on me or something like that... boring is fine sometimes!)

Gandalf the cat definitely has some ideas about how we should put together the new sink and counter. And now he has access to power tools!

Painting the floor until 10 at night!
While there are tsunami alerts in places I used to sleep tight!
But now my province only borders land,
no tsunamis in Saskatchewan!... would make a good country western song, no? Boy I should go to bed that last part doesn't even rhyme.
Please stay safe, coastal dwellers!

Today was the first day we added stuff back in rather than tearing stuff out! (Ok there was a little more tearing stuff out. But the net result is more stuff added than taken away). Now there is a (supposed to be temporary, ha ha ha) plywood floor, and "rock board" in the places where we took out the drywall that was super gross from the old leaky sink.
The cat was surprisingly not worried by my terrible hammering skills (only hit my thumb once!)

Well, the whole laundry room is empty now, so nothing else can possibly need to come out. Right? RIGHT??

...while tearing out cabinets, we found definitely the most horrifying thing I've ever seen in this old farmhouse.
Lysol brand cleaner! For cleaning your bathroom, washing your diapers, first aid antiseptic, or... oh gods, really?
I feel like @vagina_museum might have a few educational words here?

Fuck vinyl. Especially vinyl glued onto cardboard glued onto wood.

Cryptic update that will give you a hint on how ridiculously far the project has now expanded: Whyyyyy did whoever installed the dryer in the 1970s HARD-WIRE the dryer to the breaker box?! Did they not have dryer plugs back then?!! ARG.
(once again, not looking for advice, just yelling into the void. Someday, maybe, I'll have a dishwasher again. And a washing machine. And a dryer. And a sink. And a laundry room floor...)

Pulled out old sink and cabinet this morning, and we have now officially reached the Deep Regret phase of the project!
(Not looking for advice or told-you-so's, just venting about this fully expected terribleness and will deal with it. Just will take longer... At least there actually was a floor above the cistern that the old sink was built over! It could have been worse...)

First step completed: 2 shutoff valves/drains installed on the pipes that sometimes freeze in -40 cold snaps. These new shutoffs also make it possible to work on the sink/dishwasher without shutting off water to the whole house, which makes this whole project a LOT easier. Yay.
Tomorrow will be ripping out the old sink and cabinet and hoping that the floor underneath isn't rotted through into the cistern underneath...

Wish us luck! We will definitely need it. (Fortunately my in-laws are visiting and they have a lot of fixing-shitty-old-houses experience, so we have backup!)
