Are tacos pies?#poll
World@mayintoronto A pie should have crust over the top. So traditional pumpkin pies are also not pies.

Is it OK to run software written with the help of AI/LLMs on the Fediverse?
World@ragectl @mcc @arthfach @xgranade
@evan above is clearly using “live-and-let-live” metaphorically, not suggesting that software is alive. Similarly, I am using “tolerance” as a metaphor for allowing interoperation of software systems. The software systems we build and operate as part of the “open social web” (or whatever you’d like to call it) have no obligation to interoperate with software that is actively damaging the open social web. I’d even argue that they have an obligation to take measures to prevent such damaging interoperation. Is the more literal statement of this somehow clearer than pointing out that this is an argument that has been had many times before? -

World@mcc @evan @arthfach @xgranade Is this the so-called “paradox of tolerance” again? We should not tolerate things that are not themselves tolerant. I’ve had to take one art project off of the web after it had been there for decades because of AI scrapers, and severely rate limit another.
