the american government managed to suppress generations worth of climate change anxiety w barely a peep because the green tech that could save us comes from china.
i fully expect the same strategy to work when it comes to AI or anything else going forward -- the world's biggest ecological destroyers in the global north will eschew anything that doesn't come from them and would rather destroy human civilization through climate change & fascism rather than let dirty brown commies gain any sort of foothold anywhere.

It doesn't help that American mega corporations have pissed off the rest of the population on AI and data centers so much that it has stunted Americans on AI adoption in general.
