The worst disgrace for Linux is have seen Red Hat aspiring to become the new Microsoft, and everybody "oh cool. Everything fine here!".

Who's behind SystemD? Pulseaudio (that took years before working seriously)? Wayland? Pipewire?
    Guess who: Red Hat.

    And who brought Red Hat?

    IBM.

Yes, Wayland and Pipeware are promising, but the pressure to push aside well tested software is what Red Hat is doing.

And they are making life harder for evertybody isn't in their boat.

For a while, there was a recurring ‘FreeBSD needs a RedHat’ discussion in a load of dev meetings. I disagreed, what FreeBSD needed was a dozen or so companies that could, between them, drive a similar amount of contribution and cover the kinds of support-contract provision that RedHat does, but where none of them would place an undue weight on the ecosystem.

The trend running through all of the RedHat stuff is that it touches a lot of the rest of the ecosystem (other software needs to be modified to work with it) and it’s too big to fork. This is how you take control of an open-source ecosystem. No amount of license shenanigans will prevent it, only healthy contributor communities and designing software from the start to be made of small, loosely coupled, easily replaceable, components.
