is anyone working to have subscription included in their software? not for ''creators'' but for economic sustainability of the platform itself, something like paying for storage and permissions automatically

    Mitra.

The recipient of a payment is not necessarily a content creator, it could be a server operator too.

I added Stripe integration to PieFed so people could donate directly. But I got one donation through there and practically everyone kept using Patreon and Ko-fi instead. It was really strange. So I disabled Stripe.

    Interesting

I wonder if people like me who prefer to donate without needing to make accounts are such a minority that serving us is more hassle than money lol

To accept donation is not the hard part of the requirement tho

Linking the payment to capabilities on the service i think it's the hard one(?)

Weird that mastodon doesn't do it

Unless it does and I don't know it, I should check it

What capabilities? Something like disabling federation for a user when subscription expires? That would be trivial to implement.

not being able to post media or not being able to post stuff if you already exceeded the storage quota
