    Is there a enabled (or something like that) which supports long posts which are regularly extended and treats them like growing threads?

    I want to write my daily stories in a way that they can be followed/found from e.g. mastodon, but also be read in one page.

    Or maybe I could just teach to publish both the whole page and the latest paragraph to separate systems.

    @asmw

    There’s a couple of great blogging platforms now: WordPress, WriteFreely, and Ghost come to mind right away.

    Could you explain more of what you mean by extending posts and treating them like “growing threads”?

    Do you mean, sending updates when you make changes? Or republishing others’ comments about a post?

    Also: I’m working on something that might be similar, that’s why I ask about the specifics. Would you be interested in trying something new and giving your feedback/guidance?

    @asmw
    I am not sure of the exact details but I know Ghost blogging platform is Fediverse enabled now.

    Hope this helps in some way.

    @benpate That's the thing: I'm not even sure how that should work.

    My workflow when writing is a single markdown doc per story. Every part gets it's own header and when I'm done I publish the newest part, i.e. everything under the last heading. I rarely go back and edit older parts, but it happens.

    My naive ideas would either be something, which treats each heading as a separate post, and publishes a thread of them, or a block-based tool, where you must explicitly declare the cuts.

    I would prefer simplicity, and to self-host, which is why I am currently fighting with CGNAT, wireguard and a VPS to try writefreely 🙂

    @justin Thanks! I'm actually trying to get a writefreely blog online.

    @asmw I think I see what you're going for. It would be nice to write something like a book, then link together different "chapters" into a coherent narrative.

    I haven't built in Markdown support (using a block-based WYSIWYG at the moment) but it's certainly doable. I'd wondered if others would want that or if it's just me.

    And yeah, self-hosting is a must. Even if you don't WANT to host it yourself, you should be ABLE to.. it keeps the enshitifiers away 🙂
