I’m trying some apps. Ice Cubes is nice, but doesn’t work with and it’s open source, which is a great plus

Tusker is nice and works perfectly with snac, but doesn’t allow to quote post (which is ok, for snac, a bit less for Mastodn)

Toot! Is nice and funny. Worth investigating more.

Mona is clear and seems to be working with too

Ivory looks interesting, but I should consider if I want to pay a monthly fee.

    …I’ll have some fun…

@stefano Mona and Icecubes here. Ic you’re new to Mona, they also switched to a subscription model. As an existing user I could update for a one-time fee.

@santi I see that Mona Ultra has different patterns for different notifications, and it’s something I like.

@stefano I use Mona 6, but there are a few annoying bugs that haven’t been fixed. CWs on quote toots, you don’t see the quoted post. There’s no way to view more than some (too small) number of mutes. You can HAVE more, you just can’t do anything with the oldest ones. I won’t be upgrading to the new Mona because of these. Plus I’m (slowly) leaving iOS, so I’m looking for a good masto client that’ll work across my Linux and OpenBSD devices.

@stefano I can recommend . It’s a web client that works incredibly well on an iOS device. It replaced ivory on my phone. And you can host it yourself!

@santi I think there’s only a subscription model for new users.

@cimmanon thanks. I love Phanpy, and I'm waiting for my PR to be accepted (hide boosts and/or replies from the timeline).

@santi Oh, I was wrong. I think it can still be done if you open Mona Classic at least one time. I’m considering it.

@santi Eheh no, I’d probably evaluate the normal “subscription” model. While I understand the reasons behind it, I don’t love it, but at least you always have the last version.

@stefano this toot was posted using Ivory. As good as IceCubes in my experience and supports #GoToSocial notifications.

@stefano Even as I understand a developer’s needs I kind hate subscriptions. Mostly because they are everywhere and they happen in apps I sometimes use once every X months.

Given I access the Fediverse for hours each day the price of the subscription isn’t my biggest problem 😅 if I could use it one hour less and work instead I would easily make up for the loss.
