What are some decent relatively modern phones that would be good for a LineageOS install?

What are some decent relatively modern phones that would be good for a LineageOS install? I don't plan to put Google Play Services on it since they are going to be used by teenagers so they only need to make calls and text. I wanted a modern phone to at least let them have a good camera.

@blainsmith I don't know if they're compatible with LineageOS, but I look at Sony Xperia phones which are part of their "open devices" lineup.
