I also talk to people all the time who believe that socialism can't work because everyone just wants to be lazy and I use the same argument that people want to be productive, they want to be useful to society. But I feel like there's a big difference between people being able to do what they're passionate about because it's beneficial to society and people answering customer service questions for corporate profit. XD basically I agree with your point, I just dislike exploitation and it feels to me like using this technology to enable people to do more with bodies that couldn't before, only to be able to re-enter this wage slavery market so they can help produce corporate profits... does not feel like the win I wish the technology was. Does that make sense? It's early for me, I hope it makes sense.

If you've ever been sick and unable to do anything for a prolonged period of time, you'd know how excruciating it is. There's a big difference between being productive and being exploited.

Wishing cool innovation wasn't tied to profit, but to the expansion of humanity's freedom overall.

Unfortunately that's just the study disclosure, not the paper, though it does confirm that this is a study within the six months after implantation. If we assume the estimates in the disclosure are correct though, they haven't published yet? Which seems a bit unlikely, but given I haven't been able to turn up the paper maybe that's right...?

Three patients with high-level quadriplegia have recently gained the ability to smoothly control computer cursors using only their thoughts through implantable BCI technology. After training, one patient surnamed Zhang can now proficiently make phone calls through e-commerce logistics backend. He can communicate with customers, confirm orders, and ensures that goods are delivered on time. Meanwhile, the other two patients, surnamed Li and Zhao, performed backend service work for vending machines, annotating data on items purchased by customers by watching videos.

This is some Torment Nexus shit lmao. The poor fuckers are paralyzed, and now they've figured out a way to stick Microsoft Teams directly into their skull? Haven't they suffered enough? /s

Seriously tho, anyone have the paper? The cool tech here isnt the mouse control - that's been around since the 90s - but that it's long-term implantable. I am skeptical that they have solved the implantation issues, that's a problem still very much in it's infancy, but it would be cool to hear I've just missed it somehow.
