That seems catastrophically insane. Killing all the existing clients? Why would anyone do that?

You can implement more than one API -- especially a simple standard one like the ActivityPub API. Many of these projects have RSS feeds as well as ActivityPub, for example.

Also, I tried looking up the answer myself on the Git repo, but I couldn't really find an easy answer—what would be the advantage of switching API? Does it expand the types of content different Fediverse accounts can show?
