BiliBili - Popular chinese video streaming site - going global creating competition to youtube

Would only affect the US and still serve as a YouTube alternative elsewhere. I'd like a Feduverse alternative better but video hosting is expensive, plus any replacement of YouTube must also come with the ability to get paid for people who do that full-time.
Yeah, we can't just produce content and hope it will magically lead to the defeat of capitalism or some shit, but if this leads to better speech being allowed to be heard without losing your livelihood that's already a big win

YouTube could use some competition. Creators who publish to multiple platforms could also use an alternative, especially if the alternative doesn't censor pro-Palestine and leftist material as YouTube does.
I've just found the following comment in a video:
我一直都支持以色列,这不是一句“虽远必诛、打嘿除恶”这么简单,最重要的是我觉得犹太民族十分优秀,生于忧患几千年,磨练民族风骨,他们早已超越德日民族了。
祝福以色列越来越强大,以色列人民越来越幸福。
希望以后的后人在翻看旧网页的时候,能发现我的回复,证明当时还有正常思维的人。
最后祝福在以色列的众多同胞能幸福平安。I have always supported Israel. This isn't as simple as slogans like 'Though far away, we will bring justice to you' or 'strike down evil.' Most importantly, I think the Jewish people are truly outstanding. Having been forged in hardship for thousands of years, they have honed their national character. In my view, they have already surpassed the German and Japanese nations. I wish Israel ever greater strength and its people ever greater happiness. I hope that in the future, when later generations browse through old web pages, they will find my comment, proving that there were still people with sound minds back then. Finally, I wish all our compatriots in Israel safety and happiness.
Hm, I dunno. Maybe his irony is escaping me.

Lots of people with lots of opinions. I'm talking about the platform and whether the platform would shadowban, demonetize and so on anti-zionist material or not.

Please research further. I believe your heart is in the right place, but you sound like many of us before we started actually looking for sources and educating ourselves to see past propaganda. Western media (and NGOs, like Amnesty) have been caught lying so many times in just the last few decades to justify destroying countries and raping their peoples that we can't just take their word for it, especially when talking about the countries that can actual beat them.
Obviously they do have surveillance, all states that can afford to, do, but the cultural genocide claim is false (on youtube, you can find random tourists in Xinjiang passing by people speaking Uyghur, for instance, no need to take my word for it when the evidence is literally there, documented by random liberals online; you can also find stats on how many mosques they have, the legal status of Uyghur and Tibetan, the differences in how one child policy was applied for ethnic minorities, stats on population growth, etc). The extra-national police thing is a conspiracy theory, too. Hacking does happen, in both directions.
Generally, I trust that you're a smart person who can look things up, try to get sources on different things, and always understand the bias of every speaker. You know my bias is very pro-China, and you know that western media is very anti-China, and you're free to be anti-China as much as you'd like, but it's best if you do it with actual sources so we can have good faith discussions on both sides rather than resort to repeating disproven conspiracy theories. We don't need to repeat claims from QAnon to point to very real problems in the US. If hypothetically the BBC decided to platform anti-US conspiracies (which they won't, because they're aligned) that wouldn't make it any more legitimate, it just shows a bias, in this hypothetical case against the US. The sooner we move past the propaganda, the sooner we can have more honest discussions about China and anything else, even if we might not necessarily agree (ex: I understand many anarchists don't like China, that's fine with me as long as they don't hate China more than other states based on propaganda, but rather reflecting a consistent position against states in general, even if it's one I disagree with).
Lastly, my reason to like China is because they're generally a positive force in the international stage, they help many countries actually be able to develop, not out of goodness or something, but because it's good for them as well as for our countries, and that's good enough for me. The sooner we have a multilateral world where countries like my own can develop and heal, the better.

The Uyghur Times? And their partner the Uyghur Post? Sounds very suspicious, lol.
Oh, pupils aren't punished for speaking their mother tongue.

I like this new Chinese warfare. Releasing free AI models to undermine US firms, not letting US buy their rare earth minerals opening up a YouTube competitor.
These are all hurting the people wo are leeching the money out of the middle class, and making laws to keep 'em poor and stupid.
I'm not looking forward the upcoming economic crash, and the whole climate change thing happening.... But we all had it coming.China is currently propping up the entire western world. We would have already crashed if they didn't reduce their imported oil consumption by a staggering 5 million barrels a day. China has also been suspiciously quiet about it.

Chinese video hosting platform Bilibili https://www.bilibili.com/ [https://www.bilibili.com/] has switched to an international format and will support mass registration from various countries, aiming to at least carve out a portion of YouTube’s market. The platform has existed since 2010 and currently has over 350 million active users (mostly Chinese). A neural translator is available. source: https://x.com/bilibili_create/status/2090086781018677614 [https://x.com/bilibili_create/status/2090086781018677614]

I just tried signing up, it required a phone number then told me I have to download the app to complete the sign in process.
Edit: Apparently the international version is bilibili.tv not bilibili.com

Finding an unbiased take on China's treatment of the Ughyurs is neigh impossible. However, reading Chinese law involving the state's legal definition of extremism does not inspire much confidence.

(7) Wearing, or compelling others to wear, burqas with face coverings, or to bear symbols of extremification
Did the French infiltrate the Chinese government? A lot of the attitudes towards Ughyurs really is reminiscent of the Western attitudes towards the Natives in the Americas. The Europeans saw themselves as culturally superior and civilized, so they took it upon themselves to "educate" the indigenous. Do you believe that there exists any peoples that are truly above some sort of exceptionalism, or is this false pride just a part of human nature?
Granted, even the video linked and its evidence were from five years ago. Lots might have changed since then.

It's also ironic because I have to use Google's increasingly restrictive ecosystem instead of my Linux machine

To the first thing, the source seems like bullshit. The second one, it's on you to source the claims of it being widespread and institutional.

The Diplomat. Based out of Washington DC..
And Geographical. A United Kingdom government cutout who would call the entire region "The Orient" if it was still socially acceptable.
Lol.
