most of us are here because we like what mastodon is right now - a comfortable, more relaxed alternative to the never ending shitflinging and ragebaiting that takes place on every other major platform.

@fuckfetish I would like it if I didn't need to give Elon Musk my phone number to follow updates from local government agencies or learn about events in town. That's the level of "mainstream" I'd like to see.

@fuckfetish ppl can always create/use an instance with restricted access to some other instances and keep mastodon as a calm place. being able to curate your own experience here is one of the reasons why the fediverse is such a cool place

@fuckfetish thought exactly the same some time ago. Talking about adoption is in the end adhering to the same metrics some people escaped from. We as a community should just focus on things that make us feel better.
